Since I started learning about computers in very early 1990s gaming have been an integral part of my computer experience. Although I occasionally played action games since the the original Doom era, Strategy and Adventure games where my passion. In fact, they played a big part in improving my English through reading all the lengthy dialogs.
I can not even count the numbers of hours I spent playing Master of Orion 1 and 2, command and conquer and all the craft games among many others. As for the adventure games, anything that has Sierra or Lucas in its name was grabbed by me in no time.
After graduation, the long hours of work in the architectural and construction field left no time for any of that. Getting married didn't help in this too :-)
Years later, I discovered GNU/Linux. Obviously, not being able the many games designed for the MS platform was not an obstacle to me.
A couple of days ago. I was cleaning my small home computer lab, and I found Master of Orion 1 floppies. I brought lots of memories to me. So I searched the interned and was happy to discover that I do not even need Wine to play it since it was a Dos program. I just needed a DOS emulator.
I tried two: dosbox and dosemu. I liked dosemu better. I installed Master of Orion 1 and 2 using dosemu without any trouble at all. I am a happy gamers once again :-)
I will try to check the rest of my old games, but I know that this happiness is short. Nothing changes the fact that the more you grow the less time you will have for such activities. Well, this has a limit. When you grow really old, then you will have all the time you want... and more.

I agree
I agree with you and I like your post. I used play all the day long in vacation when i was young. It seemed the most enjoyable work to do to me. But when I got admitted into college very little time I had to spend in games. I really miss that time.
